Finding the people changing their world

501 Collective is a nonprofit for nonprofits. We travel to find local leaders doing remarkable work, then come alongside them with story, funding, teams and guidance.

The world is full of quiet heroes

Ten million small nonprofits serve their neighbors around the world. From Haiti to India, they teach, build, farm, feed and protect, often with only a handful of people and an enormous amount of heart.

Yet 88% of them have no team behind their vision. No one to tell their story, no one to help raise what a project needs, no one to call when the work outgrows them.

This is where we come in.

How we find our friends

  1. A truck waits on a dirt road through thick green trees

    We travel far.

Our own teams go to the places most people only see in the news: the rural jungles of Belize, the mountain villages of Eswatini, the war torn heart of Ukraine.

  2. A woman in a headwrap smiles broadly beside a doorway

    We find the right people.

Leaders who already know their neighbors by name and are building good things. We visit, eat at their tables and listen, learning before taking action.

  3. A volunteer hands snacks to a line of smiling children

    We keep showing up.

Then we come back, year after year, with whatever the work needs next. Friendship comes first, and the help follows.

What we bring

Our partners set the direction and we bring what they ask for, always free for the small nonprofits we serve. The goal is work which becomes sustainable, never help which has to be given again and again.

  • Children crowd around a phone to see a photo of themselves

    Story driven content

Photo, video and websites which show the people, places and purpose of the work with dignity, so more people see it and believe in it.

  • A volunteer measures boards on the floor of a new wooden home

    Project support

Clear campaigns with honest budgets, raising funds for practical needs like a roof, a well, a farm or a classroom, one step at a time.

  • A volunteer cuts wooden stakes at a building site beside a metal fence

    Teams in the field

Volunteers side by side with people on the ground, through useful tasks, careful listening and friendships which outlast the trip.

  • A team member leads a session for a full room of local leaders

    Organizational support

Practical guidance on strategy, communication and systems, so a growing nonprofit can stand strong and keep serving its neighbors.

Great people, great things

Explore our projects
  • A girl laughs with her arms crossed in front of her pink stilt home

    Gales Point, Belize

The community’s leader set out to repair or rebuild all 75 failing homes in town, and our teams come to build alongside, one house and one family at a time.

  • A smiling volunteer in a bright jacket pushes a wheelbarrow of gravel

    Kyiv, Ukraine

Through the war, our partners have led evacuations, housing, food and care for widows and orphans, and nearly twenty teams have joined them.

  • A grandmother laughs in the doorway of her home

    Manzini, Eswatini

A 91 year old grandmother has kept her homestead outside Manzini all her life. A visiting team spent a day beside her, hauling water and mending her hut.

Friends in their corner

Local leaders already know their communities and have earned their trust. What they often need is someone to help the world see their work, and to stand with them when it gets hard.

So we became their storytellers, fundraisers, extra hands and friends. We have been doing it since 2021, from a wheelchair basketball court in Uganda to family kitchens in Brazil, and we are only getting started.

When you give to 501 Collective,

We want every dollar given to reach our partners and projects around the world. So a dedicated group of supporters covers our operating costs separately, and every gift flows straight to the people it was meant for.

You don’t need a lot of people to change the world, you just need the right people.

Our partners are those people, and The Village is how you stand behind them, every single month.
